APRIL 4, 2024 at 12noon.
Attend this event to hear an exciting announcement.
We, the workers of Queen’s University and Aramark, are united in our desire to build and maintain a world-class public University. We all come to work every day to support Queen’s students and researchers as they produce the knowledge and innovations that can transform our communities and even our world.
Increasingly we have not seen the same commitment from our Employers.
Queen’s short-sighted budgeting decisions (implementing a hiring freeze, cutting core programs and courses, and continuing to limit wage increases far below the cost of living), essentially prioritizing investments over people, are unacceptable and incompatible with the University’s claim to be “an important partner in Kingston’s local and regional community” that is “tackling humanity’s greatest challenges.”
In order to adequately support its mission, Queen’s must prioritize research and learning. We need proper staffing, and we need our workers, representing thousands of members of the Kingston community, to be paid enough to live comfortably and with dignity.
Queen’s workers are united in demanding respect and demanding better for this community. We will fight for what is right for Queen’s workers and students.
We will fight for what is right for Kingston.
Add April 4, 2024 (12pm) to your calendars and join us for an exciting announcement for all workers at Queen’s University and Aramark.
On-campus event location to be announced soon. Watch your Queen’s email for further details.
Aramark employees are part of the CUPE 229 Local Union and work in Food Services and the Donald Gordon Centre at Queen’s.
