Dear members,
We want to provide you with an update following yesterday’s bargaining session.
The people at the table for the employer are Gladys Ndungu (HR-Library), Barbara Kern (Library), Ryan Horbay (HR), Melissa Seal (Lead negotiator, HR), Sandra Valente Roscher (HR), Carolyn Heath (HR).
Proposals were exchanged during the meeting, though the employer has yet to disclose any monetary proposals. Marc distributed a paper copy of the signed majority petition and made it very clear that 100% of Local 1302 members signed the petition, underscoring our united demand for fair wages and adequate staffing. Your solidarity is our strength and is being noticed at the table.
Unfortunately, the employer’s proposals include significant attempts to weaken our collective agreement. These efforts are concerning and underscore the importance of staying engaged and informed as negotiations continue. We will share more specific details about these proposals in the coming days.
Given these challenges, we have filed for conciliation. This is a critical step to ensure we have every tool available to reach a fair agreement that reflects the needs and contributions of all members.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. Stay tuned for further updates, and remember that our collective strength will carry us through this process.
In Solidarity,
Kim Bell
