We wanted to provide you with an update from the bargaining tab le. While we made
progress on a few more proposals—agreements that will be reflected in the updated
document soon—the discussions on monetary matters were deeply disappointing.
The employer has offered wage increases of 2.7%, 2% and 2% over the term of the
collective agreement. This proposal is nothing short of a slap in the face. They claimed
that our current compensation is sufficient and even went so far as to suggest that LT5s
are already paid above market value. Since they have no problems filling LT2 and LT3
positions, they are assuming those positions are already getting paid enough. At the
same time, they have no hesitation in granting themselves substantial raises.
Our work is clearly not being valued. To make matters worse, they have outright refused
to address the compensation lost due to the illegal Bill 124 rates of 1%.
This fight is about fairness and recognition of the critical work we do every day. Stay
